- Tsunami(TM) Sound Decoders
- This high-performance, onboard locomotive sound system combines a full-featured sound system, four Hyperlight lighting effects, a motor controller and a DCC decoder into a single, integrated unit. Compatible with NMRA standards and Recommended Practices, the Tsunami can also be used on DC layouts with a conventional power pack. At Tsunami's core is a true 16-bit Digital Signal Processor, or DSP, capable of executing over 120 million instructions per second. This provides 14 functions, over 22 individual sounds, and 4 special effects including the ability to alter the exhaust sound automatically in response to changes in the engine load.
- Each Tsunami supports 7 bit address modes for compatibility with simple systems and allows for programmable acceleration, deceleration and starting voltage. The units also support 14 bit address modes for any loco number up to 9,999 and programming on the main.
- Throttle features include 14, 28 and 128 step modes with smooth 128 speed step response in any mode. There are 15 pre-programmed speed tables and a user-programmable speed table is also provided. The units also feature high frequency silent motor drive and load compensation.
- The sound system combines individual, adjustable volume control, a one watt audio amplifier, polyphonic sound processor, 16-bit audio processing, and a 7-band audio equalizer to produce high quality digital sound that includes playable whistle and reverb. Each is designed to use a standard 8 ohm speaker, sold separately.
- Each unit can control 15 Lighting effects including Rule 17 dimming, or automatic direction control.

- TSU-1000 1 Amp Digital Sound Decoders - Steam To take advantage of Tsunami's increased sample rate and dynamic range, all sound effects have been re-mastered and re-digitized for the best audio possible. New sounds include: multiple whistles so you can select the right sound for your model, plus a short whistle blast to produce a short, snappy toot required for many whistle signals. The dynamo effect has been improved to include the sound of the turbine windup when it is first turned on. Brake Squeal may be activated manually using a function key or automatically when the engine is slowed to a stop. The water stop effect can be activated with a function key whenever the engine is stopped and begins with the sound of the tender hatch being opened followed by the sound of water filling the tender. In all, each unit provides over 22 steam sound effects including bell, air pump, exhaust chuff, coupler, steam release, cylinder cocks, snifter valves, brake release, side rod clank, Johnson bar/power reverse, blower, injector, pop valve and Fireman Fred.
- Whistles and sounds suitable for 4-6-2, 2-8-2, 4-6-4, 2-10-0 and others. Whistles included are: ATSF Freight, B&O 3-Chime #74, PRR Banshee, Lehigh Valley Nathan 5-Chime (Road and Yard mixes) and USRA 6-Chime.
