Reviews : Tamiya Porsche 959 Coupe Sportscar

This is a nicely detailed kit of a very iconic Porsche. The dimensions are correct and the stance is good when compared to the real car. This kit however was a little more challenging that the typical Tamiya kits. PROS: awesome car with good detail everywhere. CONS: Two piece spoiler that requires putty and tricky sanding on the inner part of the spoiler, rear tail light needs a lot of fine paint brush work to good, molding lines on front and rear fenders. My kit also had the top of the car out of alignment, the front A pillars are very thin and were twisted. I had to soak the body in hot water and the press it into the correct shape. I am happy with the finished look, but due to the cons listed above I recommend this kit to experienced builders.

This is a very nice super car to add to your collection I love this kit so much though I am not a huge super car guy it is always nice to add a super car or two to a car show diorama this kit was so much fun to build I have to pick up another one the details in this kit were awesome and defiantly worthy to pick up 5 out of 5 stars for sure for this kit I may buy a lot of super cars like this one and build a junkyard diorama in Dubai it would be really different to the other dioramas I have PROS: Nice casting, fun to build, detailed, CONS: I have yet to find an issue with this kit. If you are looking for a good super car kit or just want to build one you should consider picking this one up

I have no idea why this kit is such a low price, but I'm not complaining! This is a typical Tamiya high quality kit with a very detailed engine and interior. The parts fit was excellent and required very little sanding and trimming of excess flash. It was a very enjoyable build. I finished mine after a real 959, oak green lacquer, 2k clearcoat with a tan interior. The only con of the kit is the engine is very detailed but once installed, one can hardly see it!

Must admit that Tamiya have a range of high quality but lower cost models and this is one of them. Great detail like locating tabs so you cannot get LH or RH parts confused. Fit gives some hard edges rather than seamless almost invisible ones but never the less enjoyed making this model. Maybe a Rally version decals could have been included for a more of a 'Club Sport' racing look like they did with the Lotus.

If you haven't acquired this kit, what are you waiting for? Besides being one of the coolest Porsches conceived (four wheel drive for the Paris-Dakar Race), it is typically Tamiya: good fitting parts, above average detail, and in this case an unbeatable price. If you have some facility with custom mixing paints, the interior paint scheme is very cool! This model is a good bang for the buck.

This is the first Tamiya kit I've built, and now I can see what all the raving is about. Everything fit so well I thought I must be making a mistake. The directions are a bit different compared to Revell and others, but with careful study they make sense and are accurate. I hope Hobbylinc gets more of these.

This model was a fun build. Usual Tamiya attention to detail and quality. Not too difficult to build, but still challenging enough for someone (like me) getting back into the hobby after many years. A real bargain, too. I bought two and am looking forward to adding more detail to the second one.

Great kit. Great details. Great price. Paid the same amount for this kit as I did 30 years ago on the first 1 I built. Wondering why the other manufacturers are charging so much more for 50 and 60 year old molds.

This is the first Tamiya kit I've built and I'm very impressed. Perfect parts and only had to use a couple swipes of a file on 2 or 3 spots for alignment. Really enjoyed building this one.

It was a enjoyable build, a few little issues but nothing insurmountable. Tamiya models are definitely higher quality model, excellent molding and no flash.Wouldn't recommend for beginners.

Clean parts very little flash and warpage. Plenty of engine and interior detail. Test fit and paint as you build. Becareful with small parts. Have fun.

This was a fun build. The engine compartment was fun to build and paint. Can do many custom jobs on this kit and the car looks great!

U don’t see to many of these to put together hopefully u guys get more like these or more exotic cars to do
