Description This is a 1/35 Scale U.S. M113 ACAV Plastic Model Kit from Tamiya's Military Minatures Series. For Ages 10 and Up.
Facts Early in the Viet Nam conflict, the M113 APC was often used in a light tank role, but initial combat losses led to a number of modifications to make it more suitable for these types of operations. A combination gun-shield- cupola was added over the commanders hatch to provide some protection while firing the .50 caliber machine gun. Near the rear cargo hatch, mounts and shields were provided for two M-60 machine guns. With these modifications, the vehicle was tagged with the M113 ACAV designation, denoting Armored Cavalry Assault Vehicle.
