US Med Tank M26 Pershing T26E3

The Tamiya Pershing 1/35 model kit was released in 2002 and is holding up well against it's Hobbyboss and Dragon model versions of this same tank. This is another Tamiya kit that is suitable for novice builders as it's paint scheme is monotone olive drab and the tracks are the vinyl single piece type. The barrel is not slide molded, however with careful assembly, painting and weathering, the seam line will disappear. There are several stowage parts such as extra tracks, ammo cases and C ration wooden crate boxes. The 50 cal. MG on the turret is detailed and looks good. A commander and a loader figure are provided in the kit. The periscope guards and light guards are fragile parts so be careful installing these parts. The modeler will be rewarded with a great looking kit if attention is paid to following the instructions carefully.

this is a fun kit built to typical Tamiya standards. (yes I'm a fan) they have re-engineered the suspension to articulate and attention needs to paid in this area. I messed up the easy 8, my problem not theirs. it builds up great and comes with a lot of extras.

After reading the book (The Sherman Tank Scandal of WWII) I went out and got a Pershing from my favorite manufacture (Tamiya). This kit showed me what they talked about in the book. So lets get to it. The kit, instructions and decals where all up to Tamiya standards. The kit included two figures and extra's to put on the hall. (ammo cans & K-rations). Decals included for 4 tanks from WWII and the Korean War. Decals also for the ammo cans & K-ration box's. PRO'S: The kit fit together with no problems. Great detail on the parts. Instructions where great. This kit also has movable suspension. Which if you wanted to put this in a diorama would make it look so much more real. I chose to have the suspension movable which was a mistake. They move to much for static display. Live and learn. No need to get a metal barrel cause the two piece went together perfect with no bends in it. CON'S: I wish it would have came with clear parts for the cupola and head lights. Got spoiled when I built their Easy 8 & Abrams. I did add wire to the upper hall like in the pictures in Korea to hold the ammo cans, plus I added a jerry can and canvas rolls to the upper hall. Extra parts I had. This kit was fun to build and I hope you enjoy it also.
