1/48 Kawanishi Shiden

This is a Plastic 1/48 Japanese N1K1-Ja Kawanishi Shiden Aircraft from Tamiya.

Period of Service: First flew in late 1942, replaced by N1K2-J by 1945.
Mid-wing, single radial engine, single seat fighter/bomber interceptor.
Highly detailed 1/48th scale plastic kit for static display.
Markings included for 4 different aircraft.
Approximately 60 parts in light grey and clear with fine recessed panel lines.
Detailed underwing gun pod and auxiliary oil cooler.
Optional belly mounted fuel tank included.
Moderately detailed wheel wells with good detail on the landing gear struts depicting the telescoping mechanism of the prototype.
Cockpit detail includes instrument panel with raised instrument face detail, seat, cockpit floor with consoles and control stick.
Detailed Nakajima Homare two row radial engines with poly bushing which allows props to spin and be added after the kit has been
assembled and painted avoiding breakage.
Wheels have separate hubs for easier painting.
Served in the defense of Japanese positions on the Phillipines, Formosa, Okinawa and the Japanese homeland.
Similar configuration to US P-47 Thunderbolt. Excellent performance and maneuverability but long landing gear legs caused problems.
