Good Stuff (if maybe a little specific)
Have you ever painted the tires on your model black, and then stepped back and thought to yourself, those tires are just too black? If so, this is the paint for you! It's just slightly less black than black making it perfect for your tires (or anything else that you want to be really really really dark grey, like almost black). The smaller pots aren't as good of a value as the oz., but unless you're planning on using it for things other than tires, I don't think you need the larger size. Its consistency is a bit on the thick side, but thins well with water (though Tamiya also makes an acrylic thinner that is better), and if you thin it to 5-6 parts paint to 1 part water it will give a very nice brushstroke free look in 3-4 coats. Although, I just use it straight out of the pot for painting the tires on my 1/72 planes with no problem. Very good paint.
Tamiya paints are just the best
I have been switching over to Tamiya paints for a good reason. That reason being any of the Tamiya brush paints I have bought flow off the brush with just the right amount, usually only takes one pass on small parts, and the inside of the lid is bowl shaped so you don't have to blindly dip your brush in the bottles.
An essential specific color
This Tamiya painting is essential for modeling airplanes and land vehicles, obviously for use on rubber wheels, etc. The color is very well achieved, differs from black and gives the kit more realism. I've been using it for years and it doesn't dry out. Highly recommended.
Best model paint by far
Tamiya makes the hobby paint on the planet. Its so easy to work with. The coverage is awesome. At first, coming from Testors, I was hesitant because Testors is so thin and barely covers. Once I used it, it was a game changer. I will be switching all my paints to Tamiya.
Used this instead of XF2 black... can't tell much difference but will use this on all tires
I got back into modeling recently and began building my toolkit. The Tamiya paints were part of that first paint kit, primarily for WW2 German and US infantry, tanks, vehicles and planes. This paint brushes on well and I mix it 1:1 with thinner when airbrushing.
Great
As with all Tamiya Acrylic paints, coverage is excellent. The extra dimension that this paint gives makes it super for rubber gaskets around hood, door, and trunk areas even for wind shield wipers.
Great acrylic paint
Paint to Thinner range 2:1 to 1:1 for airbrushing depending on air pressure, paint volume and distance from subject. Experiment on scrap plastic first. Perfect new tire color and sheen
Great paint and color
Tamiya paint is among the best, always great quality. I like to use this on tires and road wheels because black is usually too black. Tamiya rubber is the perfect shade.
The best!
This paint is perfect for painting rubber/vinyl tires and molded plastic tires. The sheen and overall color is realistic. I always make sure I have this on my work bench.
Best rubber color I've used
This is the best paint I've used for accurately reproducing the look of rubber. And is with all Tamiya products the quality is top notch. Highly recommend!
Tamiya Black Rubber XF85
The most realistic black rubber color I've found so far. No need to thin when using an airbrush. Also good for using as a weathered black look.
Layout /Building supplies
I painted all plastic model tires flat black until I came across RUBBER BLACK!! Very realistic color and dries giving the tire a textured look.
Rubber black paint
I'm amazed at just how well it looks like actual rubber, excellent product, goes on very nively, does not need thinning and dries quickly.
Great Color
Only received this today, the 12th of January, and have already used the paint. I love the color and how well it blends.
Great Product!
This definitely the paint to use for painting styrene tires that come to you unpainted and plain white plastic.
Tamiya paint
As with all Tamiya paint, they are smooth to apply, quick drying and cover very well
