Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color (Black) 87131
Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color (Black), 87131 is an excellent product for highlighting panel lines, rivet and bolt detail on plastic military armor or aircraft models. When used as a panel wash it can also act as a filter to add a darkened appearance to painted surfaces, simulating dirt and grime. If too much is applied, then the excess panel liner can be removed with enamel paint thinner. This product works best when applied over an enamel based clear gloss or clear matte enamel top coat to enhance the capillary action of this panel liner, allowing it to easily flow into and around surface details that you want to enhance. The fine applicator brush inside the cap makes this product enjoyable and easy to use. This product is recommended for model builders of all skill levels.
A must-have for those doing vehicle/mech painting
By: quasicoltd
This stuff is, quite simply, the easiest way to fill in panel lines and recesses in your models.
The cap has a small brush attached, and the only thing you need to do is tap a small amount near the end of a line run, and it basically fills the whole line in by itself! Any run-over is easily cleaned up with a clean cloth, cotton swab, or a tiny bit of paint cleaner (unpainted only).
This works best on models either before they are painted, or after a gloss coat is put on top. It CAN work on painted surfaces, but it doesn't run as evenly and should you need to clean up any excess, it is more difficult because the paint has a tenancy to absorb some of the liner ink.
This product will give your models a LOT of extra depth and detail if used properly.
Really Great!

This stuff is quite magical! I began using it only today, and I am already impressed! Simply dab the stock Tamiya brush/cap combo (just like from their cement bottles) onto a depressed panel line, and the thin enamel mixture immidiately dissipates across a very large area of the line! Only a few dabs were needed for me to cover the main panel line running across my Tamiya 1/48 scale Zero, and I wiped the excess away with some thinner on a cuetip. Great stuff! Don't know why this wasn't thought of sooner...
Great for highlighting details

This is a very thin solution. It quickly goes alongside raised areas of models to add a 3-dimensional look. It is great for weathering model trains. I found that I could make the sawdust loads in Bowser HO Wood Chip cars stand out and look more realistic. On model planes, it highlights the control panels, makes the cockpit look used. On model trains, it makes the model look like it has actually been outside in weather without having to completely weather the model.
Great wash

Excellent panel wash. I use odorless mineral spirits to carefully remove it. I've had best results applying it an acrylic gloss coat. The mineral spirits does not affect the gloss. I tried using Vallejo wash, but using water to remove it also begins to remove the gloss, creating a real mess. This is very good panel wash and super easy to clean up, even after leaving it on for 24 hours!
Excellent product

This is the first time I've tried the Panel Line Accent. It works great! The brush is attached inside the lid. It holds just enough color to touch in the area I want it, without causing a mess to clean up. The only negative I can see with it is the smell. It does have a strong odor; similar to a can of spray paint. This will stay on my work bench as a permanent go-to product.
Adds a touch of realism to models
When I first started in the hobby, there weren't very many extras available for models. Tamiya has come up with the best extra I've come across in a long time. The richness of the black surpasses other brands of wash. Once I started using Panel Line Accent from Tamiya grills and wheels began to pop! SO much easier than the old paint and rub away method of yesteryear.
So easy
This stuff is amazing. Used it for the first time today- and very impressed with the results. So easy to use, and the results are well worth it. Just dab a little on, let gravity work- it runs very easily, filling in recessed lines. And if you make a mistake, or apply too much, just wipe it off with a Q-tip dipped in thinner. Wish I had discovered this stuff years ago
Great stuff!
Great stuff just a touch of the brush and runs quickly and easily. True you could mix your own but this is so convenient why would you. Just the right mix of paint to thinner and brush in the bottle cap just like their extra thin cement. I'll be buying the rest of the colors. Be sure to use it over gloss paint or clear for it to run correctly.
Best panel liner on the market

Amazing panel liner. Also works well as a wash. Works extremely well and excess is easily removed with enamel thinner. Great colour and application method.
Pros: great colour, multi purpose, inexpensive, vibrant colour.
Cons: requires enamel thinner to remove excess.
Ideal for lines on Model Locomotives
This paint is perfect for doors and lines on my model railroad locomotives. It has a “capillary effect” that remind into the gaps snd crevices for a very realistic look.
A friend advised I use this for those details. I turned to Hobbylinc for a great price on it.

Works great. has great fluidity. helps not just chrome shading stand out, but a few drops in the door and trunk crevice on model cars makes the whole build pop.
Only downside is the stuff has an odor to match the morgue!

This paint is great. On my model car builds, I use it on wheels, bumpers, anything that has a dark background. It really makes things pop. Its easy to use. Has a strong odor so keep it tightly closed when not in use.
A bit tricky

Be advised, it was my first time using this and it was a bit tricky to work with. Make sure you have a cleaning solution and cotton swabs at hand for any mistakes. Otherwise would recommend.

Adds a nice effect
I love this product! It makes my models look finished by adding the shadows between the door and the body of my vehicles. I can’t wait to use it on tanks or even miniatures.
Not tried yet but will make the detail stand out
I bought this before I researched other washes and have not used it yet, but I think it has its place and will try it for some weathering and accenting in the future.

This product has really added to chrome on my models. It really added a nice amount of accent to the from grill on my Mercury Marauder and The Monkee Mobile.
GREAT FOR WEATHERING
GREAT FOR WEATHERING ENGINES AND UNDERCARRIAGE. GOOD SHADING.
GIVES ENGINES A USED LOOK WITHOUT TO MUCH OF A DIRTY LOOK, UNLESS YOU PUT ON A SECOND COAT.

Tamiya has a great product with their panel line fluids. I use the black stuff for grilles on the back of tank models and to help give depth to weapons.
Great on Chrome

I have not used this for panel lines. I use it on chrome parts like bumper grills and wheel hubs. Thin application and easy touchup with a cotton swab.
Great for realism
Perfect for panel lines, but also for aging and adding staining on parts that are just a little too clean! Great for transmissions and engine blocks!
Really adds some pop to your models

I like that I can use this panel accent color over the models, and wipe up any excess with thinner....just adds that extra touch to the models.
Shadows
Love this stuff!! I use it for literally everything! It adds the shadows in to create more realism. And I love the fine brush that is included.
Brings out the fine line details.
Product flows within the fine lines with just a small dab. Makes the lines more visible. You add or remove as needed even after it dries.
