50' Pulpwood Car - Ready to Run -- Missouri Pacific - HO-Scale

To overcome problems of shifting pulpwood loads, southern railroads began rebuilding bulkhead flat cars with a unique V-shaped floor. These cars came to be known as "woodracks." Larger versions appeared in the early 1970s that measured almost 60' long and could carry nearly twice as much as the earlier cars.
Based on cars built by Southern Iron & Equipment, these models represent one of the most common woodracks in use. Since most were outwardly similar, it makes a fine stand-in for cars from other builders too. The model captures the all-welded construction of the prototype with its heavy sidesills. And to maintain a near scale size, many smaller details such as end beams and ladders are molded as separate parts, then installed on the models at the factory. And of course, the all-important V deck is accurately depicted, right down to the "rain drains" (on the prototype, these keep rainwater from pooling) in the center of the floor. A diecast centersill puts the weight at the bottom of the car resulting in a low center of gravity and improved operation.
Fully assembled and ready for service, the cars come with free-rolling trucks and working knuckle couplers. For additional detail, a complete set of preformed wire grab irons is included for you to install.
Molded starter points on the body simplify drilling and installation.
