"Not a bad model"
Matthew (Orofino Id)
Italeri makes good model kits but my only gripe is the wings has a stem that connects them together and that is too delicate Why they didn't stick with the older Esci gear style wings like in the past then the model would be less challenging build but there are gaps you'll need to fill in to make it look decent but all in all the parts fit somewhat good no problems . If you want to build a better quality Tornado I would spend more and get a Hobbyboss brand but this is okay but not the best .

"Tornado IDS/ECR"
scs52 (Amityville, NY)
The only thing I found wrong with this model was that the tree numbers: A,B C, etc where not shown on the instructions. So I had to hunt thru each tree In order to find the parts listed in the Instructions. Other than that, It was fun to build.

"Easy to add LED lights"
Chris R. (Jacksonville, Ar)
This kit is easy to build and if you take your time easy to add LED lights on to simulate ground/landing lights. It is best to use 3mm red, green and white LEDS. Also used fiber optics to light up interior on instrument panels. Used 2 flat green LED for radar screens on front & rear screens. Also used 3 SMD lights for landing lights on landing gear. For power used 2 AA for power. (Picture added for this build) ** Only back thing about this kit and from every Italeri kit I ever built is they are bad for the panel gaps and the molding for the panel lines are not detailed. Also the plastic molding a thin.

"Tornado Version E"
diloretoo (Eagle River, AK)
I was going to rate this 4 stars until I realized that this kit was a real challenge for me and it was gratifying trying to meet that challenge. The kit contains enough hardware for 5 versions of the Tornado. Three of the 5 are IDS and 2 are ECR. It contains 6 sprues including 2 A sprues (one for each IDS or ECR version). The instructions are complicated on some pages and requires rereading several times. This is not a kit for the faint of heart, but if you take it slow and easy, you will get an outstanding product. The piece fit is very good for the most part and there is very little flash. I'm not 100% pleased with my finished product, but that's my fault. I plan to build another one learning from the mistakes I made on this one.

Markings

  • One decal sheet with markings for 5 versions
  • 1) Tornado IDS Aeronautica Militare Italiana 6° Stormo, 154° Gruppo, Ghedi (Brescia), Italy 2012
  • 2) Tornado ECR Aeronautica Militare Italiana 50° Stormo, 155° Gruppo, San Damiano (Placenza), Italy 2013
  • 3) Tornado IDS - Royal Air Force 15 Squadron, 75th Anniversary scheme, Cranwell, UK 1990
  • 4) Tornado ECR Deutsche Luftwaffe JG 32, Lechfeld, Germnay 1998/99
  • 5) Tornado IDS - Aeronautica Militare Italiana 6° Stormo, 154° Gruppo, Ghedi (Brescia), Italy 2008
