This is truly a modeler's kit. Expect to undertake many steps that you won't have encountered previously in Estes model rockets. Lots of details that you'll be doing yourself (top hat, cut out fins, build up fins from balsa struts, then cover with paper, etc). Having said that, however, the instructions are good quality and appropriately detailed. I would recommend this kit for an intermediate to advanced modeler.
TLP kits often require the construction and attachment of a top hat to give the nose-cone it's point. Check online forums for tips on how to go about doing that (and making it look good). IMHO, that's probably the most challenging part of this kit.
Also note that it's easy to overbuild this kit, such that you'll need a motor with more kick than a standard D12 in order to fly safely.
