"LindBerg 1/48 Scale F-86D SaberDog"

This kit is very simple and has little detail, but as it was the only 1/48 F-86D I could find I decided to give it a try. The fit was actually very good.A trip to the spares box yielded a nice seat and instrument panel, so these were modified to fit the cockpit. A tailpipe was fashioned using an old F-80 exhaust. Interior wheel well detail was added as space would allow. Landing gear struts were robbed from the remains of a F-94.I had to cut a new nose wheel door as the one supplied in the kit is incorrect. After considerable work, it actually turned out pretty nice, it looks like an F-86D. If you are in the market for an F-86D in 1/48 scale. Unless you can get your hands on a Monogram F-86D, I fear this is the only game in town, but with some scratch building and parts substitution you can reproduce a passable rendition of the F-86D for very little cash.

The model is OK considering that it's a LINDBERG model which had a bad reputation for producing poor models. If Lindberg could produce a model like Hasegawa, Revell or any other company, they would have a winner. By what I mean poor quality, is the nature of the model, thin, soft and undetailed plastic.
