Would like to see more fleet oilers for plastic modeling from the 70s. USS Ashtabula AO51 Also older helicopter carriers from the 80s like: USS New Orleans LPH11

"old lindberg tanker"
This is a old tanker model kit that has been reissued the original came with a electric motor. This one deleted the motor but still comes with the battery mounts. The ship itself goes together easy as it is a one piece hull it does have a good amount of flash to shave off as this is a old school casting molds The superstructure was 3 decks and 4 lifeboats. The instructions were somewhat confusing as the grid has no numbers on them to tell which part is which but the diagram is usually enough. I found the gun placement somewhat confusing as the guns are all nearly the same size except the large gun which is mounted up front on its own tower which was odd usually such a gun is mounted aft but that is accurate in this case. The mast and walk ways are real easy and a bonus you get string to rig the mast with. The kit once finished has the look of a toy as it is a bathtub kit to be built by kids to float in the tub not win beauty contest with that said it still is not too bad to look at.

Easy to build parts fit good spent extra time detailing weapons and rigging.

"Good starting point for a civilian tanker conversion."

This kit is made from old molds in an odd scale, but the lines are clean and it is a good starting point for a conversion. There aren't many tanker kits available so this one fills a niche and the price was right. I started by cutting away all the molded in railings and inclined ladders along with the gun placements. I filled in the holes and used photo etched railings, inclined ladders, and water tight doors (all 1/500 scale) to dress the kit up as much as possible. With a little research and a lot of work, this kit can be turned into a decent civilian taker from the 1950's. I really enjoyed it.

Due to small parts that could cause a choking hazard please kee away from children 3 years of age and younger.
