"Good basic kit, but a few issues."
delm8
Ok, this is a kit I really wanted to like. And, basically it is ok, good detail, easy to build. But, sadly there are many issues with it as I see. Most of which advanced modelers could overcome. 1) There is a hole in the top of the mantlet where plastic is missing - looks very bad. If you fill and paint, no big deal, but I don't do that. 2) Parts 36 through 39 are for the panzer IIIF and earlier, so not needed and actually incorrect in the directions. 3) The panzer IIIG came with a 37mm main gun, the IIIH a 50mm main gun; only the late IIIG were upgraded. So, this isn't really a panzer IIIG, it is a panzer IIIG late. 4) The barrel length seems wrong. I compared the barrel length of this kit with their IIIJ/L/M/N kit and it is shorter. But, the IIIH and IIIJ had the same main gun, so something is amiss. What I did is build this kit and used the shorter barrel included along with the IIIF wheels, to make a panzer IIIF. Then I built a second kit using the IIIH wheels and took a mantlet/barrel from their IIIJ kit for the 50mm gun, to make a panzer IIIH. Not sure what I'll do for the third kit, but most likely make a IIIG early using the included short barrel and IIIH wheels. So recommend the kit, but be aware of the issues.
