Paleontologists have recovered fossils of the Triceratops that lived in large herds during the late theorized Cretaceous period, similar to how elephants are seen today. The Triceratops are theorized to have lived this way in order to protect their young from predators, like the giant Tyrannosaurus and the vicious Velociraptors, which were active during this same period. The sharp facial horns of the Triceratops would have been successful in fending off such predatory .....

The theorized Cretaceous period of was not ruled by just the huge dinosaurs, such as Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus. Many small dinosaurs existed as well, one of which was the Velociraptor, which means speedy predator. The compact and fearsome Velociraptor was about 2-3 meters in length, and it is thought that they also lived and hunted in packs. Their most distinctive feature was a large sickle like claw as the second toe on each foot. These claws were used to slash at .....

Paleontologists have recovered fossils of the Brachiosaurus that lived in large herds during the late theorized Jurassic period. It is now believed that this was a terrestrial dinosaur with a behavior pattern similar to modern elephants. Their tremendous weight bearing hind legs probably allowed the Brachiosaurus to rear up and feed on leaves of tall trees. Their enourmous appetite may have forced them to travel long distances to seek fresh plant life for food. It is .....

Dinosaurs roamed the earth during the theorized Mesozoic Era. Although many of us have been led to believe that dinosaurs were monstrous creatures, massive in size like the elephant and whales seen today, there were also many that were no larger than cats and dogs. The remains of these smaller dinosaurs are rarely found in complete form because their fragile bones usually disappeared before they could be fossilized. Paleontologists today suggest that these small creatures .....

One of the best known of all the dinosaurs is this peaceful, three-horned, plant-eating prehistoric animal. The Triceratops was a heavily built four legged animal that moved in herds with their young, and attained a length of about 27 feet and weighed seven or eight tons. The Triceratops was one of the last and longest surviving dinosaurs, and lived during the theorized mesozoic era.
