The 1,500hp MP15DC was designed by EMD as a replacement model for the successful SW1500 switcher. Its longer frame allowed increased fuel capacity and application of smoother-riding Blomberg road trucks. The first MP15DCs hit the rails in 1974 andthe last rolled off the line in January 1983.
