Designed by the United States Railroad Administration in 1918, these cars were bought or copied by almost every railroad east of the Mississippi, and quite a few west of it. These cars lasted well into the early 1960's in regular service, and in ba llast service beyond that. Used almost exclusively to haul coal; much of the time in long strings, the USRA hopper was at home almost everywhere. Compatible with any HO scale train track and equipment. 2-bay open hopper.
