Designed by the United States Railroad administration in 1918, these cars were bought or copied by almost every railroad east of the Mississippi, and quite a few west of it. Surprisingly, these cars lasted well into the early 1960's in regular surv ice, and in ballast service beyond that. Used almost exclusively to haul coal; much of the time in long strings, the USRA hopper was at home almost everywhere. Compatible with any HO scale track. 2-bay open hopper with door beams.
