Based on an actual store founded in 1831 and still in use today, this little retail establishment serves the tiny hamlet of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky. Kit consists of laser-cut plywood, basswood, roofing and injection-molded chimney parts. Two laser-cu t benches and stair sets with railings are also included. This handsome model is based on the white church in Grafton, Vermont. Grafton's Baptist citizens built the structure in 1858, directly across from the brick church built by the Congregationalists in 1833. By 1920, neither congregation was large eno ugh or had money to continue on its own. Based on Santa Fe's sand house in San Bernardino, California, as it appeared in the late 40s and 50s after it was expanded and adapted for sanding diesel locos as well as steam. Similar sand houses were used throughout the system, though there were differences in each. The kit includes materials for the main building, the sand bin, and the trestle leading to the bin.
