This 1/48 scale kit comes from a company known by many called Revell. The pros for this kit are as follows: You have two paint schemes to choose from and both are from No.1 Squadron, Royal Flying Corps, Bailleul, France. However, the one I did is from August 1917 and it has blue wheels while the one from April of the same year does not. The decals were very easy to take off the paper in as little as ten seconds. They also didn’t rip at all. The illustrations were good as usual and in full color too. Most of the components fit well enough. I also liked the option of having either the wing-mounted Lewis machine gun or the Vickers machine gun on top of the engine. I chose the former.
The cons for this kit are as follows: Going back to the decals, I found out that the ones on the tail are slightly too big, so I had to trim them to make it work. I also didn’t like the fact that you had to put the large decals on the bottom of the top wing that covers up the holes in where the struts go. I had to cut one of them in thirds; I ended up painting a third of the decal since I lost the one I previously cut. Putting the struts on the aircraft was harder than it should have been.
In conclusion, I give this kit a rating of 4 stars out of 5. Revell, if you’re reading this I highly recommend that you find a better way of putting the struts to the wings together. All and all, it still a good kit overall and I highly recommend that you give it a try.
