"A-7A Corsair II SLUF"

This model actually started life as an Aurora Models kit and when they went out of business in the early 1970's Monogram purchased a number of molds and modified them to be be somewhat more accurate than before. It is actually has a fairly accurate outline for the time and the cockpit was added by the Monogram mold makers to replace the even more basic Aurora one along with landing gear bays and struts. I built a number of these kits in the late 70's and early 80's and they make for an easy build even now. There are a large number of decals still available so the kit decals aren't your only choice. The only comparisons I can make between this and the HobbyBoss kit are: the Revell/Monogram kit is cheaper, has a more accurate outline (less errors than HobbyBoss) and simplicity of build.

"More detail- better choice of decal options"
reginflow100
Hard to complain when a kit is only sixteen bucks but the selection of decals leaves a bit to be desired, at least for me. this was a great plane at what it's intended job and deserves much more detail but again that's what modelling is about so get out the inventovness and scratch. Lots of fun anyway

"Nice detail at a budget price"

I didn't pay a lot for this kit, but was very pleased with what I got. Detail is good and the the fit left me with no complaints. The cock pit could offer a little more detail, but then there are aftermarket products to improve on that so that is not an issue. Even with out aftermarket detailing the end result is pleasing and provides a great representation of the aircraft.

"Wasn't that good when it was originally released in the '60s"

Originally released as an Aurora kit in the '60s, the kit suffers from some shape and outline issues, but looks like an A7 from a distance when it is done... An OK kit for the money, but for a more accurate model with better detail and fit, I'd spend a few bucks more and get a later release from another manufacturer.
