Spotlight Review

"Old but decent"

This is definitely an old kit and it shows in the lack of detail. However, it is still a decent looking kit and an interesting subject. Despite the age of the molds, the fit was good and the clean up wasn't as bad as I expected. It's a great kit for younger builders as the part count is low and the figures are complete and don't need assembly. My son really enjoyed building a small diorama using this kit.

"An Oldie to Build Again!"

Upon receiving this kit I unwrapped the box like a little kid at Christmas. This was a kit from 1967 according to the mold stamp on the bottom of the one-piece hull of the boat and it took me right back to the very same era and I'm 62, then 16, and wow what a kit. I have plans to update the details such as replacing the .30cal machine guns with the ones from Academy that are highly detailed and painting the figures without the orange SCUBA tanks as shown in the box art. Also some structural details are in need of adding but the overall kit certainly opens up for much in the way of memories as a bonus. Go Navy!

This is an older kit and the detailing isn't very good on the boats or figures BUT it sure is a fun build. Great 'intro model' for kids.
