"Kitbashed Maxwell Ave. House"
pauldouglaskessler (Fort Collins CO)
This is a terrific model for kitbashing. As shown in my photos, I combined two kits in order to add a wing. I used the front porch brick components to fabricate a chimney. I added styrene trim, gutters and downspouts and Tichy window shutters. The timber framed front porch is scratch built. The garage is scratch built to match the house. The possibilities are endless.

"Hard to assemble"

Hard to assemble very small pieces. The house was Actually pretty easy to put together. But the porch was what was so hard because of the real small pieces but overall it wasn't that hard to put together I would recommend it.

"Nice old style home."

This model was good over all but it was not very easy to assemble. Some of the pieces were hard to get to fit together perfectly. This model is perfect for an old neighborhood.

"Good to build a familiar design."

I built this model after building the 1 story house with porch on the front. As with the other model the instructions were well written and easy to follow. The only problem I had was how to make the front gable to stick on the roof after painting it,since glue has a hard time sticking to painted areas. I was able to tape the main roof on the assembled house. Then I glued the front porch on the house. After the glue dried and set on the porch, I was able to glue the gable to the roof. Just make sure you glue the gable only to the roof only and not the to porch! Once the glue sets and dries you can un-tape the roof and gable and paint them together. That way you will get a nice even coat of paint on both the roof section and the gable. After that finishing the model was a breeze. Another really fine model.
