Last of the Pearl Harbor carriers, this one is a great kit

I've assembled 3 other IJN carrier kits (Kaga, Hiryu & Shokaku) in addition to this one. Like the others, this one's size means smaller parts are kept to a minimum which makes it easier to build. The parts are easy to remove from the molds and like other Tamiya kits, the instructions are well illustrated. Planes are included with the kit & plane elevators can be assembled in either up or down positions. Masts can also be placed in either cruising or battle positions. Overall, an excellent kit!

Awesome build!

I am in the process of recreating the great Pacific War battles of WW2, and the Zuikaku has been a great addition. I enjoyed working on the detailed pieces that make up the guns and under deck areas, and the decals provided nice finishing touches. The instructions for the placement of the golden chrysanthemum were unclear but I was able to find some images online to help with the accuracy of that.
