German Schamhorst Battleship Boat

The battle cruiser Scharnhorst, which sailed about the Atlantic Ocean at a high speed of up to 32 knots with her sister ship Gneisenau and rendered distinguished services, had the most brilliant career of all the capital ships of the German Navy. The two battle cruisers were famous for their beautiful style. It may safely be said that their well-proportioned shape ranked second to no other battleships of the world.

"Good kit for its age"

This kit is ok built out of box and it doesn't break the bank. Not much detail but is a good start. Throw in some photo etch and maybe a wood deck and it's a great kit.

"One of the best kits to build from this series"
cdnmodeller (Edmonton, AB)
I've been building ships from this series for over a decade, and recently decided to start adding German Navy ships to my collection. This was the second (first was the Admiral Graf Spee). I actually found this more straightforward to build than Graf Spee. It still has a considerable amount of small detailed parts but nothing a pair of tweezers can't handle. The only change I would make would be to include a decal for the swastika on the ship's bow (I noticed this has presented a problem for other builders as well). Other than that, I am certainly not disappointed. Recommended.

"Very satisfied"

Great looking model, I'm startin to be a huge fan of the waterline series. I expect nothing less from Tamiya and the quality in this product. I'm super excited to see how this turns out. I love how Tamiya even includes a name placard for the ship which helps when you have a lot of ships to distinguish them apart.

This was a great model kit. I think I will get the sister ship as well just for completions sake. Even though the detail wasn't amazing and the parts were difficult to fit together without having gaps in some places it turned out to be an undeniably good kit.
