When my nephew visited recently, I was reminiscing to him about watching Mario Andretti race at Watkins Glen, NY in 1977 & 1978, and how much fun it was. Lo and behold, two weeks after his visit, this Tamiya Lotus Type 78 kit arrived in the mail. I was completely surprised and blown away by his generous gift. The model is in a word...amazing. I have not done anything at this 1/12th scale or with this level of intricacy before. The finished model is 15 long and almost 7 wide. There are so many different components to this kit. You have nuts and bolts to install...including gluing together a nut driver provided in the kit (nice touch Tamiya). You also have tubing, wiring, springs, metal etched parts and adhesive cloth seat belts to install. Then add to that, metal transfer and water transfer decals - including a whole lot of pinstriping. So plan on a good bit of time for both assembling and decaling this model. It's well worth it.
