"nice kit, easy to modify"
rarem37
This is a nice older Tamiya kit. It builds up with no problems. Most of the detail is molded onto the tank itself. This is essentially the same model as the M3 Grant, with the difference being the upper turret. I would be comfortable with giving this model to a beginner. With some extra detailing and paint work it will also build into a nice model for the intermediate modeler.

"Sahara"

This was a fun tank to build since it was an older version used by the US in the African campaign. When building it reminded me of the movie Sahara with Humphrey Bogart. Can be sand painted for desert effect. Only drawback was a lack of soldiers but they can be added separately. All in all a nice tank.

"needs re-tooling bad. and needs upgrades"

I have built this before with no problems. however, I bought one off of amazon..no good. then bought one from here. no good. its too old and needs a re-tooling and upgrades. warped parts/brittle. upper hull bent not square/ did not fit properly to lower hull. if Tamiya would upgrade this I would buy again.

"Another Tamiya surprise"

I would normally rate Tamiya kits as excellent but the last two I've built have been below par. This one not as bad as the M5A1 I recently finished. Good thing is this didn't come from Hobbylinc but a local shop. It had a sticker saying vintage and it came with Tamiya kit TAM35013 (one I built for my grandson and I reviewed but no pix so here they are with this review). The kit went together well except that a lot of the holes for lights, equipment and some parts going on the top of the tank were too big. First photo shows what I mean. Surprisingly the decals went on without a problem. I have found with other older kits the decals are dried out and tear apart easily when applying them. I made copies with my printer but the background is yellowish and you have to trim them so tried using the old ones (cause I'm lazy) and they worked. Not a bad kit just not up to Tamiya standards. Oh and just like the figure kit by itself the guy with the flamethrower doesn't have a hose. When I move I'll have to find my parts box and give him one.
