Soviet KV-8S Heavy Tank with Welded Turret

This Trumpeter kit would make a fine addition to anyone's line of Soviet units. I had heard a little about some KV-8S units making use of the KV-1 M1942 Up-Armored Welded turret, and was surprised to see the kit for one. Flamethrower tank work of often against entrenched positions and usually closer than is comfortable, especially in the down-armored KV-1S turret that allows smaller caliber anti-tank guns to come back into play. The tread system is of the individual link type, with no option for the long rubber strip variety. It does come with a nicely detailed turret top AA MG. What impressed me most, is that it actually comes with a nice set of KV-1S M1943 chassis roadwheels. Besides being able to be used to make a M1943 version of the kit's vehicle, the roadwheels can be swapped with those from a KV-1S kit (M1942 style), or used to replace incorrect roadwheel sets sometimes found in such kits as KV-85, KV-122, SU-152, etc. Overall, the kit is of good quality and is nicely detailed, and I would recommend it to others.
