I bought this as a Christmas present for my dad. being a trumpeter it is of good quality. I was attracted to it because it was a good deal and kind of hard to find.

"Satisfying build of a historically important class of ship"
reverierealm
I enjoyed building the O'Brien very much. The kit was well engineered and manufactured with no flash and can be built full hull or waterline. The upper and lower hulls were both one piece and the overall construction was very satisfying. There were only a few disappointments, one being the armament was not up to the rest of the kit in terms of detail so I replaced those with aftermarket pieces. There were also a few curious omissions such as the fair weather bridge and an American flag. The bridge came with a set of photo etch I added and the flag came from another kit so those issues were easily resolved, but it kept the kit out of an excellent rating. It's still a very good kit and I highly recommend it.

"A simple ship build, great for beginners to ships"

This was a nice, easy build. Parts fit presented no problems, nor was plastic flash an issue. Liberty ships were designed to be built very quickly in real life and this kit follows suit. Get it painted and assembly takes little time. My Dad sailed on some of these in WW II, so it was a wonderful memory and build for me.
