17ml Bottle Face Painting Set (8 Colors)

As a painter of 1/56 scale figures, I noticed the color photos on how to paint light, ruddy, and dark skin tones were geared more to 1/35 scale and above as evidenced by the step-by-step photos on painting faces of figures. For painting 1/35 scale and above figures, the instructions will result in acceptable work, even for a beginner. For smaller scales more experienced painters will get good results. The color selection is great. What is different is the instructions tell the painter to start with the base color, highlight, then do shadow, whereas conventional wisdom says to start with a dark base, add in base color, then highlight. Overall, a very good selection of colors and easy instructions.

This is the perfect set of paints for paints just about any type of face. Use the paint off a pallet. Add a small amount of water and build the layers up slowly.

I was looking for a good paint system to use on model figures and this was the answer. This is the first time I have used Vallejo paints and I'm very pleased. The paint went on smoothly and had excellent coverage. By watering them down I was able to get the facial shadowing down perfectly. I'm now going to try some of their other facial skin tone to get a more varied effect. The painting instructions that are include in this kit was very helpful. Overall I would say this kit is worth every penny.
