"Base Rock Mold Review"

Used Plaster of Paris to fill mold. Had some problems extracting the small middle piece without breakage, due to a small joint in the middle. Product is durable, made many pieces multiple times. It is important to clean any residue off between uses. Used as rock wall in a combination HO train layout/Aurora ThunderJet 500 car track layout.

"Really easy"

I am a bloody beginner in railroad scenery, and have been messing things up good trying to teach myself. But these molds are really straight-forward to use and the outcome is great. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. Next time I will be even more generous spraying soapy water to get the rocks out of the mold without any parts sticking to it.

"Review: Base Rock looks very real."
Steve K (Ohio)
I have used this particular mold the most in my layout. It is easy to make and adds a nice touch. Takes about 6 ounces of dry powder to about 3 ounces of water. Put the water in a disposable bowl and then add the powder while stirring. Lightly wet the mold first, don't over stir and don't wait longer than 5 minutes to pour the mold. Molds are very easy to clean up. After removing the rock mold. flex and twist the mold to remove residual material. Then use some water or Windex to finish the cleaning. Don't get any plaster down your kitchen sink or commode or you could be calling the plumber. Have fun, that's what modeling is all about.
