"Not what I'd envisioned"

These guys are well-sculpted, as you would expect from Zvezda. However, before you buy, you should know three things: 1) these are game pieces; 2) they are made of more brittle plastic than most of the Zvezda figures I've bought; and 3) there are only two mounted figures in the set. That said, this can be a nice little purchase, particularly given the low price. But the plastic makes it more difficult to handle than most other Zvezda sets. I don't know if brittle is the right word - it's just not very resilient. You can use them as game pieces (which is what they're intended for) but I wouldn't recommend them for even relatively gentle play.
