"Building the Battleship of a tank"
vladtheimploder2002
Sadly, history has proven that the T-35 was a complete failure of a tank. It suffered from mechanical failures, was thinly armored, and was too slow to deal with the Barbarossa Blitzkrieg in 1941. According to what I have read, only about 60 T-35s were made. Simply put, this was a huge beast of a tank. It had an 11 man crew and five turrets. I have seen many photos of this tank, taken during WWII. Unfortunately, almost all of them were taken by the Germans, who were quite fascinated with this armored enigma. Anyways, what proved to be a complete failure as a tank, thanks to Zvezda, makes a total success of a model kit. The instructions are clear (but totally in Russian) and I had almost no fit issues. Thankfully, the tracks come in several hard plastic sections, and NOT in individual track links. Remember, this thing is HUGE! Individual track links would have taken forever to assemble on this beast. I absolutely love this kit! To be honest, I have always been hesitant to build a model of this monster. But I had absolutely no headaches with this beautiful kit. Yes, the T-35 was a complete failure of a tank. But it is a very important piece of history. On paper, it looked invincible; but Hitler's Blitzkrieg quickly showed it was just a useless dinosaur of a tank. But it sure does make a great looking model! I love this huge beast!

"Five Turreted Fun"

This five turreted behemoth of a tank must have looked impressive in a Red Square parade. At over 450 pieces, there is plenty here to keep an average hobbyist busy for some time. Unlike many tank models, the directions call for building the four secondary turrets and top hull detail before the base of the tank. Next, the wheels and bogies, along with a very good looking Christie suspension system go together. As far as fit, this section is the easiest and most enjoyable. Finally, the largest turret is tacked on top. This turret does have some interior detail, including seating, and the turret can be lifted out for inspection. The good--there is plenty to do, and the uniqueness of a five turreted tank keeps one engaged. The picky--the kit would benefit greatly by including at least one figure for scale. Even a Russian citizen waving would allow a sense of just how large this land battleship is compared to its rivals. The mildly irksome--the turrets are in several pieces and the fit isn't excellent. Putty could have been used in the seem of all top to side turret pieces. Unlike some other tank models, the larger guns rest unbalanced and default to a raised position. A bit of friction built into the design would help here. The parting shot--I like unusual WWII vehicles, and this is about as unusual as it gets. If you can put up with some minor design, fit and finish issues, you should find plenty of fun in putting this together.

Due to many small pieces that could become a choking hazard, pleas keep away from children 3 years of age and younger.
