This 1/72 scale kit is from a British model company called Airfix! Mighty
fine company indeed. It has two paint schemes; the one I've chosen is from
the IJN carrier Shokaku, Pearl Harbor, December 7th, 1941. The other is
from the 553rd Kokutai, April-October 1944. The aircraft also had the
option of having it's wings folded or not. I've chosen the folded since I
never did one before! The aircraft itself is rather pleasant to build
although one of the landing gears just wouldn’t stay upright. So I had to
resort of using hot glue to correct this problem. The hardest part of this
kit was the painting of the Dark Green stripes along with a questionable
choice of using Satin Hemp color for the entire aircraft that in the end
doesn't look like it on the cover of the box or the illustrations in the
instruction manual. But besides that, I highly recommend this kit to
anyone! You also have a wide variety of bombs or torpedo to put on your
kit!
