First time I've ever purchased this kit. Looks nicely detailed, good chrome. I wish they would rerelease the hard top version.

"Not perfect but worth the effort and price"

Fairly clean parts, only minor cleanup needed.I built it stock so I don't know about the fit of the custom parts but the stock parts fit well after being cleaned up a bit. My biggest gripe is that there is no up top. Going to try scratch building one if I can figure out a close match to use as a pattern.

"Ok build but has issues"

This is an ok build of an old release kit. It is inaccurate and not up to the 1990s standards for molding or assembly. The rear seat was not molded correctly with a narrower seating pattern to represent the real seat that had to incorporate the soft top folding arms. In this kit the side covers that go over the folding top arms are molded to the soft top cover and don't fit very well. The 1969 Chevelle convertible didn't have vent windows. The clear windshield is the same one used in the hard top. The instructions do tell you to cut the side clear vent windows off, but how many young builders will take the time to do that or be able to do a good job without breakage? There is no up-top. It is nice to see the re-release of this old kit, but the company could have made small improvements that would have made it an excellent kit, if they had taken the time.

Here's the hype: This kit has not been available for decades... Here's the reality: This kit was discontinued 20 years ago for a good reason - the tool was worn out then, and it's still worn out now! Talk about flash - in some cases, it's so bad, you'll have to be real careful not to remove essential plastic. The sprue attachment points on the chassis are so big, you'll need to carefully score them, because you ain't never gettin' a sprue cutter around 'em! And if you could, you'd have to use both hands to cut through. Cut carefully so you don't leave a divot in the side of the chassis. Even the engine was disappointing. And don't get me started about that interior tub, with the cast-in-place sides that scream El Cheapo! The only thing that's new about this kit is the beautiful but hollow Goodyear lettered tires.
