Sunbeam Tiger

Just completed my Tiger and it turned out just ok in my opinion. I will say thanks to Hobbylinc's rewards program this kit cost me nothing, great program! The chassis has some good detail molded in and the suspension and exhaust is all separate parts. It seems to me like the windshield is molded to thick. I had to take the air cleaner off to enable the hood to fit, but it doesn't fit flush at all anyway. I should have checked the fit before painting.Most of the pieces fit together pretty well without to much trimming required. I would recommend this kit to others and I wouldn't mind building it again.

Lots of flash particularly around small parts. It took me an hour just to clean it off around the manifold pipes. Chrome plating obscures a lot of details, particularly around the dashboard instruments, which is too bad. Carb and air cleaner will not fit with the hood. Considerable material had to be removed to allow the hood to close. The distributor is too large and out of scale. No fitting points for exhaust, seats and gear shift. Front bumper had to be installed upside down to fit. No side or rear view mirrors. Decals give you 3 emblems but there are 5 on the car; two rear fender emblems are not on the sheet. Wrong radiator hose shows on the instructions which are very basic and poorly done. Front fascia needs to be installed before painting as considerable sanding and adjustment is needed. I built the stock version. However, an experienced modeler can overcome most of this and turn out an nice looking model. (See images). Too bad AMT didn't take just a little more care with this kit as it could easily be a first class model. I am recommending it as the kit has a lot of promise.

This kit has some cool options to use. You can make a nice little Sunday cruiser or if you want a SCCA type race car.
