This particular water tower project came out cuter than I imagined; even though in my opinion the instructions tell you to start with putting the wood part of the tower together first, I believe that you should start with putting the wood part to the base of the tower first. Because if you glue each piece of the wood together to the base everything will come out level. Otherwise, you are taking the chance wood part of the tower not setting level on the base. The rest of the instructions are really good. This knowledge is valuable before you purchase this product. I followed the instructions, and my tower didn't come out level. Even though the tower came out cute and realistic I was disappointed.

Nice kit. I would put the bottom together on the base rather than desperately and trying to fit it to the base. Otherwise a nice model

I have built this two times. It is a fantastic kit and the photo on the box does not do it justice. The mechanism for raising/lowering the spout is really well done, as are the details of the wooden boards along the sides, the beams at the bottom (complete with bolt heads) and the roof. I used some scale ivy along the bottom to help it feel grounded in the layout (and because that leaking water is likely to cause some growth!). Real life railroads painted these (sometimes) in their line colors, so you can get creative with the coloring. The molding on the plastic really takes a wash well, so you can pull out all the details with some watered down black paint. GREAT kit!

This is a classic kit that has been around for years and has stood the test of time. Assembly isn't overly difficult and results in a nice looking quality model that includes some pretty fine detail, a pleasant surprise for a kit at this price level.
