Late War Spit

This was a great kit. However, that is not a surprise for a model by Tamiya. First off the cock pit is very detailed and true to the real thing. The same for the engine. Incredible detail and if you add some scratch work it will be even better. The fit was nearly perfect. The only filling I had to do was just covering the seams where the two halves of the fuselage go together. Not really a fault to the kit, just apart of model building. The detail was also excellent. Very clear, crisp, and very realistic. Some 1/32 kits go a little over the top and have rivets and panel lines that are a bit too big. Not in this case. The directions were clear and gave no issue. Decals left a little to be desired. They were very fragile, however thick and did not conform well. Also, there was a bit of silvering after application. The engine covers came with an interesting system of using magnets to expose the engine when you desire, but they did not really work for me and I just had to glue them. For displaying the kit it comes with a stand and the option to have the gear up. Included is also a booklet about the Spitfire and has colored pictures that were very useful for painting. This was an excellent kit with photo-etc, complete engine, and an amazing cockpit.
