While this mat is not an absolute gotta have item to build models - I have to say it beats the fire out of the leftover newspapers I've used for the last 55 years. it's a great surface to work off of and does as it says it does - self-sealing when using a knife on it. I wish I had a bigger work area so I could get one of the larger mats.
