I don't think I've ever worked with a model by Trumpeter before, so this was an interesting kit to dabble in - I didn't actually buy it with the intent to build it, but instead to raid for a few spare parts for other projects (the tires in particular, along with some other greeblies.) So, the kit will mostly sit disassembled in my bitz box. Still, from what I can tell, the external detail is reasonably good, no flash, and it seems to be an easy and intuitive build. The cab interior is stripped-down and minimal - I remember seeing very detailed aircraft cockpits in this scale back in the '80s, so it seems a bit weird that the cab interior is little more than a vague suggestion of a driver's seat! The underside of the vehicle - the frame and suspension - seem to be an odd mix of nice detail and vague and simplistic parts, compromising toward the side of ease of construction and sturdiness of the finished model: if you don't look too closely, it looks great, and it seem to be quick and easy to build. The parts seem like they would fit together as designed, and the instructions seem easy enough to follow. The exterior looks great, and this truck would make a great addition to any 1/72 model collection, a nice starter project for an inexperienced modeller, and would be well-suited for background vehicles for a military diorama or an HO scale railroad. The price is quite nice as well - at this price, a few extras like cargo/stowage for the back, driver and other figures, and perhaps a more detailed interior would have easily pushed this up from an average rating to good or excellent.
