I always loved the story of the ill-fated Vice Adm. Zinovy Petrovich Rozhdestvensky's Russian fleet sootily making it's way to a deadly engagement at The Battle of Tsushima. Lt. Semyenov (a staff officer on the flagship Kniaz Suvorov) likened them to old flatirons and galoshes. The 1/350 kit matches descriptions of the battleship and captures the curving hull lines and superstructure typical of the Pre-dreadnaught battleship. Unfortunately the model comes without railings, and the parts have quite a bit of flash to be removed. However once painted and detailed it makes a stunning little ship, and the crisp detailing on it's plastic parts and rotating turrets more then make up for the amount of flash to be removed. On my kit there where a few things that seemed strange. One was the provision of holes for the anchor chain to pass threw, yet a lack of any chain. The lack of hand railings really does come off as odd, on my kit I utilized a set of photo etched parts to fill in the void.

Overall this is a good model and for the novice modeler provides a chance to try something new and different.
