This 1/72 scale kit comes from a well-known Czech modeling company called Special Hobby. Many of the kits I’ve built from them are either hit or miss and this one is somewhere in between. The pros for this kit are as follows: You have three paint schemes to choose from and the one I did is on the cover of the box called N-3PB, white 1 (c/n 301). Fun fact, this was the first N-3PB airframe to be built. The other paint schemes to choose from are N-3PB, white 3 and N-3PB, white 4 (c/n 304). You do have an option if you want landing wheels on the floats or not and I chose the former. The decals for the most part slid off the paper nicely although two of them were accidentally ripped; however I was able to fix them no problem.
The cons for this kit are as follows: The instructions and assembly of the cockpit section were not very precise which resulted in poor fitting all around. There’s no point of reference as to where the four wing-mounted machine guns should be. Although they do show you what color pattern the outside floats are, they don’t show you what color pattern on the other side of the floats should look like.. Finally the Dark Slate Grey color mixup didn’t match what’s on the cover of the box at all. So I used an olive drab pattern with better results.
In conclusion, I give this kit a rating of 3.5 stars out of 5. Special Hobby if you’re reading this, I highly recommend that you do a better job with the interior of the aircraft; the proper use of color patterns and overall color schemes. Other than that, it's not a bad kit at all to work with in the end.
