I painted the cockpit are of the fuselage before gluing the halves together. Same with the wings.
Next step was masking off the cockpit for protection and filling some seams with Tamiya Putty (white) and sanding with 400 and 600 grit sandpaper.
I used Tamiya Surface Primer (gray). Painted the underside with Tamiya XF-2 flat white, then masked the bottom side with Tamiya tape. Note the splatter of the brown. I had to figure out the paint issue.
Completed. Painted with Tamiya acrylic paints. The splatter problem was the airbrush. Tamiya acrylic paints didn't like my Badger 350 so I had to use my Tamiya double action airbrushes.
I mixed the Tamiya acrylic paints with a ratio of 2 parts thinner to 1 part paint for the airbrushing.
After painting, I used Tamiya semi gloss clear (TS-79) in a spray can to seal it.
After I applied the decals I sprayed it with Tamiya flat clear (TS-80). Canopy pieces were masked with Tamiya tape and painted. Canopy pieces were glued on using Microscale brand Micro Kristal Klear.
I Used smoked invisible thread for the antenna. Exterior paint is all Tamiya. Bottom white XF-2. Brown XF52 + XF49 (5:1). Green XF62 + XF61 (5:1).
