This Panzer V represents a unit in the 2nd company of 504 heavy tank battalion attached to Herman Goring in Sicily and Italy during WWII.

Company 1 of the 504 was sent to North Africa and none of their vehicles survived.

The AFV's of both companies were exactly the same except for the white Panzer Rhomboid with a red line through it and the company numbers after it made the only difference.

504 was the only heavy tank battalion that did not carry turret numbers at that time but later added them along with overspray of olive green and brown paint.

A platoon consisted of two Tiger tanks and two Panzer IIIs with three platoons to a company.

In the beginning 504 had only two companies but by the end of the war it had three companies and even managed to get a few King Tigers in their ranks. They surrendered to the Allies in Italy at the end of the war.
