This hasegawa kit is from 1999. Kit comes with 6 sprues molded in gray and 1 clear sprue. The canopy is a two piece for the option of open or closed. The clear parts seemed exceptionally clear. Panel lines are recessed but are shallow in some spots. Parts are flash free. The wheel well detail is really good for this scale. The kit includes 3 pilots, 2 seated and one 1 standing. Cockpit detail is provided via decals. The seats are pretty plain, no big deal if you put the pilots in. A boarding ladder is provided, which is a nice touch in this scale. Overall fit is just average, with filler needed in the usual areas around wing fuselage seams and the intakes. The decals are nice, but some of the decals must fold 180 degrees,like the orange bengal stripes on the rudders. Both of these decals tore at the fold. Probably better off to cut them in half before putting them on. Overall good kit. No headaches.

nice kit for 1/72 and the price. very, very little flash except with the pilot figure you have to pose, the standing pilot was very good. as with all the hasagawa 1/72 jet kits I have done, the air intakes were a problem, there is a side panel involved and it gave me fits. I never could get one side right. used the hasagawa weapons kits and loaded it up with bombs and missiles. IF you take your time it will come out ok, if not it will look like a hot mess. the fold over decals can be tricky. I give it a thumbs up but patience is required.

Good kit that for the scale has good detail. The fit isn't perfect, but I haven't found an F-18 kit yet without issues. Would recommend this kit.
