Accurail kits are a good value
Accurail kits are all very similar, with a frame, body, full length weight and some underbody detail that the buyer must assemble. It's all quite easy. This one also had some finely detailed stirrup steps to apply. These actually clip right in and don't need glue, but I glued them anyway. Accurail pros include price, ease of assembly, good variety, pretty good detail and high quality plastic that isn't shiny like Bachmann. Cons include Accumate couplers, which really aren't any good. I automatically replace them with Kadees. Accurail also uses plastic wheels, which are barely acceptable. I would replace them but I don't have a bunch of metal wheelsets lying around.
