"Decent kit, needs details"
disabldfirefiter
This is a decent kit of the F4U-4B, though I would have liked to see more under-wing stores variety. No one has provided a set of 5 RAM (ATAR) anti-armor rockets often carried by Corsairs during the Korean War, and I would love for some model manufacturer to finally produce these rockets, as they were not only carried by Corsairs, but also F-51D Mustangs, F9F Panthers, as well as several other tactical aircraft. The molding and assembly of the four 20mm wing cannon can be a bit awkward, but it is more detailed this way, instead of just molding the gun ports with the wings. More interior detail would be nice. But there are few kits for which we wouldn't have such a complaint. This does make the kit easier for modelers with less experience. It is good to see a decent kit of the -4B Corsair in 1/48 scale. It is a necessary addition to any Korean War collection of model aircraft, as it was heavily used by both the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Navy. No collection would be complete without it. All F4U-4Bs in the U.S. Naval forces were painted in overall gloss dark Navy Blue during Korea. They were not produced in time for WWII. The F4U-4 with six .50 cal. MGs was used towards the end of WWII, but not the -4B with four 20mm cannon.
