Reviews : AMT Great Dane Flat Bed Trailer

I'm a long haul flatbed truck driver, and I've used stretch trailers before, so I looked forward to building this one. I used a different paint scheme than suggested, and IMHO I think it came out pretty good. It went together quickly and relatively easy, and this is only the second kit I've built in the last 40 years, the first being a cabover I built last April. Use care when putting together the stretch frame off the front deck - BE SURE AND GET IT STRAIGHT!! I didn't, and when closed, there's a noticeable gap. The one thing I didn't like was the only lights you get are clear - I used red and amber lights from other kits, and I added extra lights down the sides.

This was a great kit. It was super easy to build. Unlike all the other kits I've built i got to enjoy the building aspect at once. It CAN be assembled fully then painted but somethings are hard to get to. So learn from my mistakes and paint the bottom of the decks and the supports before putting them in. Even though its going to be a bit of a pain to paint now i still had fun building it and even did it in one sitting. I plan on buying more for a diorama and i will learn to not assemble all of it before painting

I thought this kit was gonna be tougher than it was. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t familiar with the instructions layout. You’ll be surprised at how heavy it is when done. Do yourself a favor. If you want the two parts of the trailer to open, scrape the paint from the sliding rails and touch up with a sharpie. I have no desire for that and I pushed them together, done deal. Fun kit you’ll enjoy!!

Nice kit. Easy instructions to follow and read. Parts fitment is great and minimal flash on parts.
