"A high end car."

For a very long time the name Atlas has always been equated with quality products and this is certainly the case here. That is the reason why I have more than one car from the Steam Era Classics series and I can recommend the Trainline kits as well. On all levels this Libby's reefer is outstanding, just as I thought it would be. Handle it with care as there are scale foot stirrups and staff brake at the proper height and they are very delicate. Out of the box this car is light at 89gs, below the NMRA standard minimum weight guide line of 98gs for a car of this length. The car can be disassembled to add weight but I've had no problem with it tracking properly so I don't want to take a chance of damaging it to bring it up to weight, so it is in if it isn't broken don't fix it-ville. The car has a July, 1930 build date with a COTS date of October, 1958 so there is a 28 year window where this car can be in any train of that era. There are separately applied hand grabs and ladder rungs on both sides, top and ends of the car including staff brake details. The doors are highly detailed with separately applied details there, too. Printing and lettering is of the highest quality. Under car details are not lacking either with full brake rigging, molded brake pipe and a K type brake cylinder. The truck detail is okay and the blackened metal wheels spin effortlessly for a very free rolling car. The couplers are only passable so I upgraded with Kadee whisker, short shank, scale head metal couplers as I do with all cars 36 feet and less that do not come with them as delivered. And the price? Expensive. So I mix in high end cars with the less expensive cars, since it's usually the high end stuff that catches one's attention anyway. But you get what you pay for and these cars fall in to that category easily and are worth the cost to me, so I can recommend them.
