"Great, really fun rocket!"

This is my first rocket from Custom Rocket Co., and it appears to be inspired by the Estes Der Red Max. This rocket uses die-cut (not laser cut) balsa fins, two body tubes (BT-60) with a tube coupler, and a plastic nose cone. The shock cord is an elastic fabric type, but uses a paper mount. I replaced the paper mount with a 12 in. Kevlar string connected to the metal engine mount hook on one end and tied to the shock cord on the other, which I believe is a better design. Since this is a D engine rocket, I used paper lamination on the balsa fins, which makes them stronger. I also replaced the 1/8 in. launch lug with a 3/16 in. lug. The advantage of the separate body tubes is that you can paint the nose cone, engine can and fins black before gluing it to the white painted body tube, which eliminates the need for paint masking. The decals are the sticker type, but must be individually cut out from the decal sheet, as they are not pre-cut. The Scavenger launched well on B and C engines with an adapter, and absolutely screamed to over 1000 ft. with a D engine. My last suggestion is to use a smaller parachute than the 18 in. one included, especially with a D engine. It floated a looooong way away......

This is a great rocket to get your hands on. Easy to build but has a rewarding accomplishment. Big in size and nice design on the decals.

"Great rocket!"

Great rocket! Flew this rocket four times and made an easy recovery each time. I can’t wait to fly it again.

Small stature for a D-engine rocket means high altitudes - use C11-3's for small field flying. I also put a slightly smaller parachute on mine (16) instead of the included 18 to reduce drift time, and it works just fine. Building was enjoyably easy.
