Reviews : Italeri UH-60/MH-60 Black Hawk

Overall, I was greatly disappointed with this model. I had just completed Italeri's CH-47D which had excellent quality and I was expecting the same from this kit. There are not many options for Black Hawks in 1/48 scale so I figured I would give it a try. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was that it was the same mold or extremely close to it that Minicraft uses for their kit.(Not sure if the two companies are the same or one bought the other). Fitting was the biggest issue on this kit. A lot of trimming of flash and filling cracks with putty and sanding. This is something most Italeri kits don't require. I was also disappointed in the lack of detail. Some parts are just plain pieces of plastic with no detail. The cargo area inside was also horrendously incorrect to the point I didn't want to build the model with the doors open. On the positive side, if you don't mind the extra work and lack of detail the model can be built to look fairly decent once completed.

The greenhouse window frame didn’t line up correctly. A bit or filing and trimming to get it flush. And the main rotor blades are molded for a downward dip at the tips. Other than that the rest was a fun build. With a lot of details.

parts were hard to locate the numbers and some flash as well. the kit came with many extra parts that showed no detail on the instructions. a lot of trimming and fitting was needed.

Appears to be a new tooling because all the parts and pieces have NO extra flashing anywhere. The packing of the parts were placed where the won't move around causing damage.

For the price I would have to rate excellent. There was a part fit problem and some confusion about instructions, but it is a great product.

The Uh-60m Blackhawk is my favorite aircraft and model it is not too hard and a good price
